Our club has used the uPVC pitch surround for the last three seasons in the Central Midlands League which is at level six of the pyramid. This replaced steel poles with ropes which looked very untidy and the league asked them to be replaced.
We looked at steel barriers but the cost was five times more than the barrier we installed and was not removable. The ease of installation and removal was what we required and therefore it was our only option. The spectator barriers main purpose at our facility was to indicate to spectators that they should not go onto the pitch. A visible barrier we found to be the best solution. This system works very well in deed and can be removed at the end of the season to make grass cutting easier. At our level of football crowds are usually very small so a full barrier for hundreds of people to lean on is not required. Spectators can lean on the fence where the post are situated but most are content to just stand behind the rail. We have had crowds of up to three hundred with out any problem whatsoever. The beauty of the system is that it can be made stronger with aluminum sections if required but we have never needed to do this. The most important point with regard to this uPVC system is the safety aspect as it is players and not spectators that collide into perimeter fencing. I have seen two or three major collisions into our fence that would have caused serious injury had it been made in steel or concrete.
I would recommend this system to any club .

We have had the whole of our pitch cordoned off with your uPVC post & rail system for over five years now, and this is the first time we have had to replace any of it. We as a club have absolutely no problem recommending the plastic post and rail. We were, at first, very dubious as to how long it would last, how often we would need to replace parts, and more importantly how safe and pleasingly visual on the eye it would be. Frankly it ticks all the boxes above, because although initially it was reasonably expensive, it has cost us very little since, in fact the only reason we do need to replace some of the posts is due to damage caused at the base with a grass strimmer. This has now been easily prevented by having metal cuffs placed at the base of the post. As for safety, the system is perfectly safe and quite springy when players collide into It. The posts and rails, unlike steel and concrete versions, do not injure players. The main thing we like is that it deters supporters from going onto the pitch and has the added big bonus of being visually perfect.

Hi John,Saturday was our first County game at home. The barriers looked great, until we realised that we were 12 lengths short of the horizontal posts. It was extremely daft of us not to have counted them in the first place!!We had uprights over,so i had to think on my feet with 1 hour to go before the opposition turned up. I cut up some sleeves to slot over two joined short posts. The County guy was happy enough, lucky we had enough to make them continuous. Regards,
